Discussions > Clarification for Longfin Squid Vessel Owners, Operators and Dealers
Yesterday it was announced that as of 0001 hours, August 11, 2014, federally permitted dealers may not purchase more than 2,500 lb of longfin squid per trip or per day, until the start of Trimester 3 on September 1, 2014.
However, we wanted to clarify that as long as a a federally permitted longfin fishing vessel enters port prior to 0001 hr on August 11, 2014, it can sell more than 2,500 lb of longfin squid to a dealer after 0001 hr onMonday, August 11, 2014.
Activity regarding the Industry-Funded Observer Omnibus Amendment (will include consideration of Atl. mackerel/herring observer coverage specifically) can be tracked here: http://www.mafmc.org/actions/observer-funding-omnibus.
All for now, thanks, Jason
